Dec. 24th, 2006 05:03 pmMerry Christmas, happy holidays ect.
You know, every year Christmas just become less and less of a big deal. Really, it's just another day. Sure, I get presents tomorrow, but I also bought people presents. Wouldn't it be easier if we just got what we wanted and forgot about gift giving?
I know, I know. I'm a grinch. But I'm not trying to stop anyone else from celebrating. I'm just failing to see the point. Never mind I actually like giving people presents, never mind I actually like the food and the lights and everything.
I guess I just need to rediscover the true meaning of Christmas *cough*comercialism*cough*
Anyway, my aunt (the one I stayed with last summer) and her family are coming. I have to sit and make happy conversation with the adults or go in the basement and play video games with the boys. I have to avoid referring to Janine as my girlfriend, I have to remember not to swear or start talking about legalizing prostitution or something.
I'm wearing the clothes I made out of sari fabric and Jonathan says I'm "Culturally confused" but what does my culture have? Turning a holy day into a holiday full of greed and gluttony? Plus western clothes aren't as shiny.
Anyway, I should stop whining. I have plenty of things to be happy about and there's no reason why I should be raining on anyone elses parade.
When I say happy holidays I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I hope you all have a wonderful time doing whatever it is you do. I will try to (and if I fail I'll just eat lots of cookies and get drunk).
